National Auto Warranty scam! Please help.?
I got a call from someone saying they were interstate national trying to sell me extended car insurance. I was stupid, and accepted and gave them my credit card number. When I called interstate later to speak to someone, they said that they have no record of me. I called VISA and it is showing up as “national auto warranty” on my account. I have filed fraud, because when I tried calling Interstate back they hung up on me. Has anyone else had any problems? VISA has canceled my card but I want to know if this was in any way legit. Thanks.
Its not always a scam. National Auto warranty is a direct solicitor. You will get phone calls and post cards in the mail. They only sell warranties for other companies. Granted they are usually higher priced and because they sell for multiple companies they dont know the ins and outs of each companies coverage as well, but not necassarily a scam. I prefer to deal face to face when dealing with that much money. If you are interested in an “extended warranty” you might try checking your local Credit Union or Dealership or even your personal auto insurance carrier.
