A Guide To When To Get A Prepaid Student Credit Card
Not all college students do, but most will benefit by getting a prepaid student credit card. If you are trying to figure out whether or not you should get a credit card for while you are in school, there are a few factors that you are going to want to take into consideration here.
One of the first and most important aspects that you are going to need to take into consideration if you are trying to determine whether or not to get a prepaid student credit card is your budget. Figure out how much money you are going to have available to spend while you are in school, and if it is simply not going to be enough, you may want to consider getting a credit card.
Responsibility
Before you get a prepaid student credit card, you want to make sure that you are going to be responsible enough. After all, you have to figure all the other things that you already have going on and on your plate, and really stop to think about whether or not you want to toss something else on there.
You are basically all on your own when you are in college, and you have more responsibility than ever before. So just make sure that you are going to be able to remember to pay your bills on time and have the extra cash available, and if so then there should be no problem in you getting a credit card for while you are in school.
Time
Also remember, that with a prepaid student credit card you have to pay the amount of the spending limit before you are able to get the card, and this is beneficial because it means that if something goes wrong and it turns out that you are unable to make the payments, the credit card company will already have enough money to cover it. Of course you do not want to rely on this time after time because it will be bad for your credit score and as well after a few times they will probably cancel your account.Just know that if you are going to get any type of credit card while you are in school, you should make it a prepaid student credit card.
“There are certainly lots of different credit cards that you can choose from, so you can find one to perfectly suit your needs.” said a motivational speaker who’s trying hands on SEO and IT outsourcing. He has much to offer in terms of choosing the right credit card for you.
How to Get a Credit Card as a Student
Is the Victoria’s Secret Angels card any good for establishing credit?
I heard there are many benefits, coupons if you get the card. But I just want to establish credit with it. I won’t buy anything that costs a lot with it. Maybe just something small everytime, so I can pay it off immediately. I can’t afford a secured card yet, as I have to deposit money and I’m a college student. I’ve also been rejected of student credit cards because of no credit history. Is this a good idea? If not, which department store cards are easy to get and beneficial? Thanks! =)
Any credit card is good for establishing credit, granted you pay as agreed.
I understand your situation. When I was in college, I couldn’t get student credit cards either. I kept getting rejected because I had no credit history. I was like, well, I can’t get a card because I don’t have a credit history, but how can I get a credit history unless someone gives me a card???
As far as trying to get a credit card, if you can’t get a Visa/MasterCard/Discover/AMEX on your own, a person could co-sign for you so you can establish credit history. If you don’t want to do that, maybe where you bank can help? If you don’t have a bank account, open one and perhaps they will help you.
Some stores require that you have a major credit card (Visa/MasterCard/Discover/AMEX) before they will issue you credit, so that’s why I suggest you try to get a major card first rather than a store card. Store cards also have ridiculous interest rates as well.
My 1st credit card was a Visa with a local bank. My limit was $500.00. I used it wisely, and within months, oodles of credit card offers began appearing in my mailbox. Also, you do NOT have to carry a balance to establish a credit history. You may pay the card in full each month, and still establish great credit.
