Is this waiter stealing credit card info?(more info inside)?
I work as a cashier for a restaurant and i havn’t really paid much attention to what he was doing before but after a few weeks i started taking notice. When he comes up to me to give me the customers credit card he would take a small tray put the credit card under it and then take this small gadget out and swipe the card on it before or after i’m done swiping the terminal machine. Just today the gadget he had got jammed so he took it out to try to fix it, when i asked him what that was he said nothing.
He’s been working here for a few weeks and he plans to quit once the month is over(the waiter/waitress their make 3000-4000 a month from tips) My sister asked him for his ss card and Id just as a precaution(but then again it could be a fake) She also called a good friend which is a lieutenant police and asked him to come over and watch him.
The gadget is about 6-7 inches, black with a green blinking light.
The gadget is a device to capture credit card information.
What he is doing is getting the info from the real card and then he sells it or takes it to put it on blank credit cards that can be used to buy stuff online etc.
Basically… he is stealing credit card info and your boss needs to put a stop to this immediately.
Because when the first patrons report credit card fraud and the investigation comes back to your place of business as the common denominator… you better have the culprit behind bars already.
Don’t let this guy run away…. stop him now and call the police immediately.
