Credit card Upgrade on credit rating?
im “converting” my credit card to a new card, basically upgrading it with the same bank.
because this means closing the old card, how would this impact my credit report/rating? would it show that i closed old account (which is bad)
or would the history of the old credit card transfer to the new card?
With card ‘conversions’ the old card will show as closed, don’t worry about that. The new card will show the same open date and the same history of the old card. Depending on how long you’ve had the old card, your average age of accounts may actually improve, which is a good thing for your scores, since the old closed card will still report for the next 10 or so years and the new card will have the same open since date … which would give you an overall longer credit history.
