we’ll be traveling in europe via rental car. Do European gas stations have the “pay at the pump” option?
specifically my question is can i slide my credit card in a pump and it will charge me and convert from euro to us dollars on my statement? or do you have to pay with euros? thanks!
You usually, at least in central Europe, seldomly find gas stations which have that function, and if so only during night-time in small villages.
In general you just fill up your vehicle and afterwards go to the counter in the shop and pay either in cash of by using the credit card.
Usually you may see signs on the door of the shop which show the type of credit cards accepted.
Most station of the global playing brands accept credit cards but you will also find no-name stations which do not.
The pay at the pump option is offered mostly in the nordic states on the flat land. In Central Europe gas stations have integrated shops or offer fast food or bakery products and coffee since they could not exist by just selling gasoline.
